Vintage WM. Kratt Mello-Chromatic Harmonica w/ Case

For your consideration is a vintage W.M Kratt branded USA made Mello-Chromatic harmonica. This harmonica was made by the same company that is now known as the only made-in-the-USA pitch pipe brand, Kratt Pitch Pipes. However, in the early 1900's, William Kratt was also known for his work with harmonicas. Back in Germany in Trossingen/ Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, William found work with Hohner who also called the town home. When he hit the age of 18, he decided to move to America and start his own company.
At that point, the year was 1910 and he had started his own company out of the Union, New Jersey area. In the process of the start up, he invented the first pitch pipe. The company eventually dropped their harmonica production in the late 60's and simply focused on pitch pipes.

This unit is in great shape. Very little in the way of cosmetic wear other than light micro scratching and discoloration to the metal components. Instrument has been tested and functions. Comes in a red WM. Kratt harmonica case we believe is original. Other listings online show the same case with lettering present. However, ours is presented with no lettering. This could be either from removal or not being present originally. Case has areas of wear but overall is structurally sound.
